Kitesurfing in the Columbia River GorgeThis is an exciting sport where a rider is on a surfboard while hanging on to a tow from a big kite that catches the wind and pulls the rider along. The rider can do stunts like flipping and jumping. The surfboard used in this sport is also called a kiteboard or a wakeboard. Kiteboarding usually means the rider has a free style to his ride and doesn't always ride waves. The rider can use this method on rivers or lakes. Kite Surfing tends to refer to riding the ocean waves while using the big kite.
As of 2006 there was an estimated 150,000 to 210,000 participating in this water sport. Since then it continues to gain in popularity.
It is advised that persons interested in Kite Surfing take lessons. Otherwise the sport can be dangerous to the rider and bystanders on the beaches as the rider learns to control the direction of his kite.

A Tall Tale
One day while on the beach I saw someone doing tricks on the waves with their board and kite. It was fun to watch and I spent some time sitting there in the sand completely entranced by the sight. After a bit the rider seemed to get tired and started to slow down. This is when I noticed someone swimming toward him. I was alarmed because the guy on the board may not see him and run over the swimmer.
Watching intently in concern I wished I could holler but they would not be able to hear me over the roar of the water. Much to my relief the swimmer reached the rider at a spot where he was resting and I could see that they were talking. I saw the rider gesture toward shore and the swimmer head away. I don't know if they knew each other or not but it seems any swimmer would have known that it would not be safe to swim close to someone doing this sport. They might get wracked on the head by the board or something.
But the outcome was good. The swimmer left and the rider stopped for the day and came to shore too.

Dear Kite Surfing Fans,
I am writing to you in behalf of your Heavenly Father. He is seeking you like a lost sheep. You remember the Bible story? It is about a shepherd who has 100 sheep. But when he brings the sheep home one night, one is missing. He then leaves the 99 sheep and goes out into the wilderness until he finds that lost sheep. In this parable the shepherd goes out to search for the one lost sheep-the very least that can be numbered. So if there had been but one lost soul, Christ would have died for that one. To read more click Lost Sheep
