Teepees for sale, including tipi tents, patterns for making your own tepee, poles and more.
Teepees are becoming popular as many like the style of these tents. In the past the best material for making tipis was animal skin. Now most are made from canvas.
The advantage of a tipi is the ease in setting it up. Plus it can be carried to another place for those who need to move often.
Teepees can be kept warm in the winter by using a fire set on the floor in the center with the smoke going out the open top. This opening at the top also provided a way for heat to escape during the summer which kept it cool.If you had property in a warmer climate a tipi could actually be lived in all year around. Western Oregon rarely gets really cold and has snow maybe once a season. Once it snows it is usually melted within a week. The main problem with wintering in Oregon is the constant rain. A way to catch the water and have it pour where you wanted without putting out your fire would be the goal. The tipi would need to be large enough for living quarters to give you standing up room to stretch a bit especially during times you have to stay indoors a lot. Windows for light could be cut in the canvas and covered with a couple layers of durable plastic.
Another teepee could be set up for your bath place where you could heat up the water and fill a bathtub for bathing and washing clothes. It would be a little bit primitive but could be done.Living in a tipi would be a cheap way to live and to generate an income a person could use Squidoo and other money-making websites.
