Free Flight Model Airplane is aircraft that is not controlled by the flyer once the model plane has been released.
These model aircraft have to be aerodynamically stable so that wind gusts or air currents don't cause the plane to go astray.
Typically gliding only at a walking pace, free flight aircraft are usually much slower then radio-controlled models because of their lightweight structure. The object is to see how long the plane will stay airborne. There are four broad categories that free flight aircraft can be divided. Gliders: Gliders are either tow-line or hand launched. Rubber-powered: Powered by twisted elastic material. Co2 power: Usually gas or electric powered. Indoor: Designed to fly indoors and are usually very light.
