The Plymouth Company unveiled the Plymouth Duster in 1970. The front of the car was all Valiant from the cowl forward while the rest of the car had a semi fastback roof and a special rear valance with twin horizontal taillights. 1970 was the only year a small Valiant badge was placed on the front just above the Duster badge. Plymouth wanted to make a two-door inexpensive sport car that would replace the Barracuda and the Plymouth Duster was born.

1972 didn't see any significant changes but the 1973 model had taillights that were mounted from the outside and covered in chrome. Some other changes happed to the Plymouth Duster until 1976 when they stopped building the car. 1974 was the best year for the Duster and 277,000 of them were sold.
